At that time, Sagar also included his college friend Binod Homogai in this business and both of them started working hard on it. In the beginning, neither Sagar nor Binod knew how to make Momos, so they hired a cook who started making Momos at their stall.
Both Sagar and Binod named their stall Wow Momos. Initially, they did not get a very good response but after some time, their stall started getting a good response.
Parents did not support
When Sagar told his father about the idea of starting his Momos business, he was not ready for it at all and no one from the house supported him. Sagar’s father even taunted him saying, “Now my son will sell momos!”
But all these things and lack of support from the family did not stop Sagar from starting this business and he finally started a Momos stall along with his friend Binod.
Had to face many difficulties
When Sagar and Binod started their Momos Stall, they did not get much profit in the beginning, in fact, in the first two years they were not getting any funding from anyone to take their startup forward.
But both of them continued their efforts and adopted new methods to grow the business like – they got a T-shirt made with the name of their business, and used to wear the same T-shirt wherever they went so that everyone could know about their business.
Apart from this, they also made the customers visiting their stall taste the Momos for free so that they could eat Momos from them in future. Along with this, they also started giving many varieties of Momos like – Tandoori Momos, Fried Momos etc. so that more people could come to their stall.
Today they have built a company worth ₹2000 crores
Sagar and Binod started the business from a small stall and gradually turned it into a shop-like outlet. After some time Wow Momos started giving its outlet franchise all over India as well as the world. Today they have opened more than 800 outlets in 26 states of India.
If we talk about the sales data of their Momos, then more than 6 lakh Momos are being sold by Wow Momos today. So far, Wow Momos company has raised funding of about 68.5 million dollars from investors, due to which today the value of the company has become more than 2000 crore rupees.
